Description
The Atlas 40005055 is an N scale ALCO FA-1 cab unit in classic Canadian Pacific (CP) tuscan-red and gray fast-freight livery, road number #4020, DC ready-to-run (DCC-ready 6-pin).
Prototype
The ALCO FA-1 was a 1,500 hp B-B 'covered wagon' freight cab unit built 1946–1950. CP took 30 FA-1s (#4015–4044) and 12 matching FB-1 boosters (#4404–4415) from Montreal Locomotive Works starting 1949. The FA-1 led CP's classic A-B-A and A-B-B-A transcontinental fast-freight lashups in the late 1940s and 1950s, in tuscan red with the wide gray window band, before being retired in the mid-1960s.
