Description
A #6 turnout has a frog angle of approximately 9.5° (tan⁻¹ 1/6) — a smoother divergence than the #4, making it the standard for main-line crossovers, passing sidings, and any place where prototypical-looking main-line geometry matters. Scale speed through the diverging route is roughly 25 mph.
The Atlas #393 is a Custom-Line Mark V Code 100 #6 Left Hand turnout for HO scale. Features include nickel silver rail on black plastic ties matched to other Atlas Code 100 trackage, a cast-metal frog with a power lug for hassle-free frog powering, and cast-metal turnout points. Can be installed as either remote or manual switching with Atlas switch machines (sold separately).
How to use
- Connect to any HO Code 100 track using Atlas #170 rail joiners.
- Remote: Atlas #65 above-table or #66 under-table machine; Peco PL-10 or Tortoise as alternatives.
- Throw by hand from the tie strip or with a Caboose Industries ground throw for manual operation.
- For DCC frog powering, wire the power lug to a frog juicer or DPDT switch on the points.
- Pair with #394 (#6 RH) for a main-line crossover between parallel tracks; use the sharper #4 versions (#391/#392) for yard work.
