Description
The Atlas #287 is an HO Code 100 Curved Left-Hand Custom-Line Mark IV turnout — a curved-leg switch where both routes bend, letting you build a yard throat or staging-track ladder inside a curve without the abrupt divergence of a straight-frog turnout. The Mark IV upgrade brings die-cast metal points and a die-cast metal frog with a power-routing tab.
The inner route follows a tighter radius (≈22") while the outer route runs a broader radius — both legs blend smoothly with adjacent curved track, making this the go-to turnout for crowded engine-yard throats and inside-curve sidings.
How to use
- Drive remote with Atlas's Code 100 switch machine, or under-table with a Tortoise™.
- For DCC-friendly operation, leave the frog isolated; for power-routing operation, solder a feed to the underside frog tab.
- Curved turnouts let you fit a turnout inside an existing curve without breaking the radius — invaluable for yard throats inside main curves and for staging ladders.
- Pair with the right-hand curved #288 for mirrored staging-yard throats, and with the straight #285/#286 for ladder geometry.
- Compatible with all HO Code 100 track via standard rail joiners.
