Description
The Atlas #2826 is an N-scale 4-arch cut-stone-masonry single-track viaduct kit — a classic stone-arch railroad bridge of the kind built across Europe and the eastern United States in the late 1800s. Many of these structures are still in mainline service today; their proportions are unmistakable.
The kit is molded in simulated gray concrete and assembles into a graceful four-arch viaduct that can be shortened to any length by simply omitting arches, or extended by combining multiple kits. Arches are 2-5/32" center-to-center and the deck is 3-1/4" above grade.
How to use
- Solvent-cement assembly with standard plastic cement (not included).
- Trim or duplicate arches to fit your scene — a 4-arch single kit spans about 8-5/8".
- Lay any N-scale Code 80 sectional or flex on top — the deck is the right width for single-track operation.
- The arch assembly without piers is 1" high, useful as an embankment-faced retaining wall.
- Weather the stonework with washes of india ink, alcohol, or pan pastels to break up the molded-plastic sheen.
