Description

The through truss is the iconic North American railroad bridge — train runs between tall steel truss walls, the bridge frames the scene visually like a steel tunnel. The Atlas #2570 is a 10" (254 mm) through-truss kit, painted prototype black with rivet detail moulded into the truss panels. Real-world examples: CP's St-Eustache, CN's Skowhegan crossing, hundreds more across the continent.

Sold as a kit — assembly is straightforward, with no glue strictly required (snap-fit joints) but recommended for a permanent install. Code 80 rail is integrated into the deck. The kit form lets you decide on weathering, custom decals, or scene-specific details before final assembly. Pair with the silver/unpainted version (#2571) for double-track scenes.

How to use

  • Assemble the truss sides to the deck per the included instructions — plastic cement gives the strongest joint.
  • Connect to any Atlas N Code 80 track with slip-on rail joiners (#2535).
  • Mount on top of #2541 piers (5" centers — note this 10" bridge spans 2 pier spacings).
  • Pair with #2571 (silver) on a parallel track for a double-track river crossing in mixed liveries.
  • Weather with a brown/rust wash and add scratch-built walkway/handrails for additional realism.
