Description
The Warren truss is one of the simplest and most common steel truss bridges on real-world railroads — a series of equilateral triangles with no vertical members, used since the 1840s for short to medium-span river and creek crossings. Atlas's N scale model captures this classic prototype in a single 5" (127 mm) span ready to drop into your layout.
Pre-assembled with nickel-silver Code 80 rail already installed on the deck, no wiring or kit-building required. Snap-Track end joiners let it drop straight into any Atlas Code 80 sectional plan, and the open-truss styrene sides are finished in a weathered grey-silver bridge color. Combine with the #2541 graduated pier set or the #2543 3-pier extension pack to build a multi-span river crossing.
How to use
- Connect directly to any Atlas N Code 80 track using slip-on rail joiners — no special transition pieces needed.
- Mount on top of #2541 piers (5" centers) or use as a stand-alone single span.
- Pair with the matching Deck Truss (#2547), Plate Girder (#2548), or 10" Through Truss (#2570/#2571) for varied bridge runs.
- Wire the bridge rails as part of the same DC or DCC block as adjacent track — full electrical continuity through the rails.
- Touch up with a wash of grey/rust weathering for a more prototypical look.
