Description
Rail joiners are the small metal clips that hold two pieces of track together mechanically and pass electrical current between them. The Atlas #2090 pack contains 24 nickel-silver joiners sized specifically for Code 55 N scale rail — the small profile lets them slip over the rail base without bulging visibly above the tie line.
Use these whenever connecting Atlas Code 55 flex track, sectional pieces, or turnouts to one another. Slip one joiner half over the base of each adjoining rail, then push the two pieces together with the joiner spanning the joint. Press flush with the ties for an unobtrusive joint.
How to use
- Slip onto rail base with needle-nose pliers or by hand — do not crimp the joiner shut, snug fit is enough.
- For permanent installations, solder a feeder wire to the joiner before installing, then drop the wire through a tie hole to your bus wire.
- Use Atlas #2091 insulated rail joiners instead of these wherever you need to electrically isolate one section (reverse loops, frog feeders, block boundaries).
- Code 55 only — they're too small to fit Code 80 rail. For Code 80 use #2535 (48pc nickel-silver) or #2536 (insulated).
- 24 pieces per pack supports about 12 rail joints, enough for one circle of flex track or 3-4 turnouts.
