Description
The Atlas #2051 is a Code 55 #5 right-hand turnout — the right-side version of Atlas's standard mainline turnout in the prototypically scaled Code 55 system. A #5 frog gives a 30.609" diverging-route radius — gentle enough for the longest N-scale equipment to run smoothly through, while still compact enough for crossovers and yard leads.
Manual-throw turnout with built-in spring detent on the throw bar. Nickel-silver rail, brown ties, concealed joiners. Atlas Code 55 is the prototypically scaled N-scale track system, with .055" tall nickel-silver rail set in brown ties for a far more realistic appearance than Code 80. All rail joiners are concealed within the tie strip, giving smooth, hidden transitions between sections. Compatible with all modern N-scale equipment (Atlas, Kato, MicroTrains, current Bachmann, etc.); some older deep-flange stock may bind on Code 55 — check wheels first.
How to use
- Use as the right-diverging turnout in main-line crossovers, junction trackwork, and yard ladders.
- Pair with #2052 (left-hand #5) for symmetrical crossovers between parallel tracks.
- Use #2030 (#5-matched 30.609" curve) downstream of the diverging leg for smooth continuous-arc sidings.
- Throw manually with finger pressure on the throw bar, or add an under-table switch machine (Tortoise, Atlas Snap-Switch with adapter) for remote control.
- All routes electrically powered — gap and feed the frog separately if running DCC sound locomotives across the frog at low speed.
