Description

A 45° diamond crossing in the Atlas Code 55 system — lets two tracks intersect at 45° without a turnout. Classic 45° diamond — fits any track grid where two routes meet at a right-quarter angle.

Single Code 55 crossing piece. Atlas Code 55 is the prototypically scaled N-scale track system, with .055" tall nickel-silver rail set in brown ties for a far more realistic appearance than Code 80. All rail joiners are concealed within the tie strip, giving smooth, hidden transitions between sections. Compatible with all modern N-scale equipment (Atlas, Kato, MicroTrains, current Bachmann, etc.); some older deep-flange stock may bind on Code 55 — check wheels first.

How to use

  • Use where two routes cross at 45° — common in interlockings, industrial yards, and prototype-style diamond crossings.
  • Both routes are electrically isolated at the crossing frog — wire feeders to all four legs.
  • Joins to any Atlas Code 55 piece with concealed rail joiners.
  • For shallow 45° crossings, watch wheelsets through the frog — sharp frog angles need NMRA-gauge wheels for smooth running.
  • Combine with Atlas Code 55 #5 / #7 turnouts (#2051-series) to build full diamond/junction trackwork.
