Description
The KATO 20-210 is an N Unitrack double crossover — four turnouts pre-arranged in a single 310 mm (12-3/16′′) piece, allowing trains to cross between two parallel tracks in either direction (LH or RH) without breaking the geometry of the double-track main.
How a double crossover works: Two single crossovers (one LH + one RH) overlapping at the middle — sometimes called a "scissors" crossover for the way the X-shaped diamond sits at the centre. The piece can route trains from track A to track B and vice versa, in both directions, from one electrical command.
Layout uses: Mainline crossover for terminal approaches, passenger station throats, and double-track interlocking junctions. Built-in solenoid switch machines for all four points.
