Description
The KATO 2-242 is an HO Unitrack easement curve at 730 mm radius and 22.5°, with grey concrete ties on grey ballast roadbed — the modern-mainline transition piece between tangent track and a full-radius curve.
Easement curve: A track section whose radius increases progressively from one end to the other, providing a smooth transition between tangent (straight) track and a full-radius curve. Easements reduce lateral jerk on long passenger and freight equipment, allow higher speeds through curves, and reproduce real-railroad spiral-curve engineering on Class-1 mainlines.
