Description
The EMD F7 was the best-selling cab unit of all time: 1,500 hp, built from 1949 to 1953, and the backbone of freight and passenger power on railroads across North America for decades. Externally it differed from the F3 in its grills and dynamic-brake hatches; internally it was the refined product of everything EMD had learned. Broadway Limited's HO F7 carries road-specific pilots, Mars lights, numberboards, horns, hatches, skirts, grab irons and antennas, each applied where prototypical for the road name.
Rock Island's maroon-and-yellow F7s worked freight across the Granger road's sprawling Midwest network — a scheme that instantly says 1950s Rock Island. This is Rock Island F7A #677, sold individually.
The Paragon4 version carries BLI's Paragon4 Sound & Control system with ROLLING THUNDER: an integral dual-mode DCC decoder with Back EMF for the best slow-speed running in DC and DCC, and prototypically accurate EMD F7 diesel sounds.
