Description
Few locomotives say "transition era" like EMD's F-units. Introduced in 1945, the 1,500-hp F3 was the third model in the F-series and the second most produced after the F7 — more than 1,100 A-units and nearly 700 B-units — and it went everywhere, from heavy freight to some of the most famous passenger trains of the day. Broadway Limited brings the F3 back to HO with road-specific pilots, nose doors, numberboards, horns, hatches, grab irons and steam-generator details, each applied where prototypical for the road name.
Santa Fe's red-and-silver Warbonnet is the scheme that made the F-unit famous — this model wears it as the passenger F3s of the 34-class did on the Super Chief and El Capitan. This is Santa Fe F3B #34B, sold individually.
The Stealth Series version is a No-Sound / DCC-Ready model with the same drive, lighting and detail — a factory-installed speaker and 21-pin decoder interface make it plug-and-play for the aftermarket decoder of your choice.
