The Bowser 44220 is an HO scale ready-to-run RoadRailer in the Triple Crown TCSZ Medium Logo Platewall (NS) scheme, road number #464677 — a Platewall-side RoadRailer trailer with pad-printed ends, sides and mud flaps and a silver roof.
Triple Crown Services, the Norfolk Southern bimodal subsidiary based in Fort Wayne, Indiana, was the largest RoadRailer operator in the world. The medium-logo Platewall trailers with Norfolk Southern-only markings represent the post-1999 fleet after NS took full ownership of Triple Crown.
RoadRailers are bimodal highway trailers that ride directly on rail bogies, coupling to each other through a tongue and running as a solid unit train with no flatcars or spine cars underneath. Bowser's HO models couple the same way: each trailer links to the next, and a single Bowser #40300 CouplerMate (sold separately) is placed at the head of the string to couple the RoadRailer train to your locomotive — only one is needed per train.
