The Bowser 44173 is an HO scale ready-to-run RoadRailer in the Canadian National ECOZ scheme, road number #532026 — a dry-van RoadRailer trailer with pad-printed ends, sides and mud flaps and a silver roof.
CN put RoadRailers to work in the mid-1990s, running ECOZ-marked trailers in dedicated bimodal trains in the Toronto–Montreal and Toronto–Chicago corridors — the only Canadian RoadRailer fleet, and a must-have for any 1990s CN layout.
RoadRailers are bimodal highway trailers that ride directly on rail bogies, coupling to each other through a tongue and running as a solid unit train with no flatcars or spine cars underneath. Bowser's HO models couple the same way: each trailer links to the next, and a single Bowser #40300 CouplerMate (sold separately) is placed at the head of the string to couple the RoadRailer train to your locomotive — only one is needed per train.
