The Bowser 44161 is an HO scale ready-to-run RoadRailer in the Alliance Shippers ALLZ scheme, road number #553521 — a refrigerated RoadRailer trailer with pad-printed ends, sides and mud flaps and a silver roof.
Alliance Shippers was one of the largest third-party users of the RoadRailer system, running temperature-controlled ALLZ trailers in dedicated bimodal trains with Triple Crown and BNSF for produce and frozen food.
RoadRailers are bimodal highway trailers that ride directly on rail bogies, coupling to each other through a tongue and running as a solid unit train with no flatcars or spine cars underneath. Bowser's HO models couple the same way: each trailer links to the next, and a single Bowser #40300 CouplerMate (sold separately) is placed at the head of the string to couple the RoadRailer train to your locomotive — only one is needed per train.
