Description
The EMD SD40 was a 3,000-horsepower, six-axle (C-C) diesel road switcher built between 1966 and 1972. Many of the units that worked Canadian rails were assembled by General Motors Diesel (GMD) in London, Ontario, and the type became a mainstay of heavy road freight across North America for decades.
Bowser's HO Executive Line GMD SD40 is a fully-detailed, ready-to-run model with an operating headlight, class lights, ditch lights and deck worklights, plus separately-applied details — air hoses, windshield wipers, grab irons, coupler lift bars and window glass — with road-name-specific details and fuel tanks. A heavy die-cast chassis, can motor with flywheels and nickel-silver RP25 wheels deliver smooth, powerful performance, and the model rides on metal knuckle couplers.
This is the DC/Analog version, fitted with a 21-pin plug for easy DCC installation.
