Center-beam flatcars are built for one job: moving bundled building materials. Using the same basic structure as a bulkhead flatcar, they add a full-length centre partition so loads of dimensional lumber, plywood and drywall can be strapped down from both sides and worked by forklift from either end. CN runs large fleets of centre-beams on its lumber trains out of British Columbia and the Prairies, and this run introduces Bachmann's new prototypical wrapped lumber load so the car can be run loaded or empty.
