Description
Atlas 66 is the deluxe version of Atlas's under-table twin-coil switch machine. It performs the same job as the standard #65 — converting a snap-action turnout into a remotely operated, momentary-power switch — but adds an integrated SPDT auxiliary contact that closes in tandem with the points.
The SPDT contact is what makes this the modeller's choice for any layout that needs more than just remote throw. Wire it through the frog rail to power-route DCC frogs (eliminating dead-spots through the frog) or feed it to a signal-aspect logic block so a thrown turnout automatically drops the relevant signal to red. A brief 12–16 V AC pulse from a control box (such as Atlas #56) flips the points and the coils relax. Compatible with all Atlas Code 80 N and Code 83/100 HO turnouts. For non-electrified installations the standard #65 saves money; for DCC frog power-routing or signalling, the #66 is the unit you want.
