Description
Atlas 65 is the standard under-table twin-coil switch machine — the workhorse remote turnout motor used across two generations of Atlas HO and N scale track. Mounted to the bottom of the layout deck and linked to the turnout's throw bar via a vertical wire, it converts a manual snap-switch into a remotely operated, momentary-power turnout.
Two solenoid coils pull the throw rod in opposite directions; a brief 12–16 V AC pulse from a control box (such as Atlas #56 or any panel-mounted momentary switch) flips the points, and the coils relax so they do not overheat. Use one machine per turnout; group them onto a single control panel for yard or interlocking control. Compatible with Atlas Code 80 N scale and Code 83/100 HO scale turnouts. The deluxe variant (#66) adds an integrated SPDT auxiliary contact for DCC frog power-routing or signal interlocks.
