Description
The Atlas 553 is an HO Code 83 terminal rail joiner pair — two metal rail joiners with feeder wires pre-attached, the simplest way to drop power from your booster bus or DC pack into any piece of Atlas Code 83 track without soldering directly to the rail.
Why use terminal joiners. Soldering to the side of nickel-silver rail works, but it leaves a visible blob on the rail and the joint can crack with thermal cycling. A terminal joiner slips into the standard rail-end position, conducts power through normal mechanical contact, and routes the feeder wire underneath the ties — invisible once ballasted. On DCC layouts, drop a pair every 6–8 feet to keep voltage uniform around the bus; on DC, drop one pair per block.
Standard fit. Same dimensions as Atlas's normal metal rail joiners; compatible with all Atlas Code 83 Snap Track and Custom Line sections, plus Code 83 flex track from any manufacturer that uses the standard joiner profile.
