Description
A Wye (Y) turnout splits the running line into two equal-angle diverging routes — the geometry is symmetric, with both legs leaving the common straight at the same divergence. Wyes are the standard for reversing triangles, yard ladders that need symmetric tracks on either side, and tight branch junctions where neither route is the "main."
The Atlas #390 is a Custom-Line Mark V Code 100 Wye turnout for HO scale. Features include nickel silver rail on black plastic ties that match other Atlas Code 100 trackage, a metal frog with conveniently placed power lug for hassle-free frog powering, and cast-metal turnout points. Can be installed as either remote or manual switching with Atlas switch machines (sold separately).
How to use
- Connect to any HO Code 100 track (Atlas, PECO, Walthers, etc.) using Atlas #170 rail joiners.
- For remote operation: install Atlas #65 above-table switch machine, or Atlas #66 under-table machine, or any twin-coil solenoid (Peco PL-10) / stall motor (Tortoise) on the tie strip.
- For DCC frog powering, wire the power lug to a frog juicer (Tam Valley, Hex Frog Juicer) or to a DPDT switch tied to the points.
- Minimum recommended radius: matches Mark V #4 geometry on the curved leg.
- Completes the Atlas HO Code 100 Custom-Line Mark V family with #391/#392 (#4 LH/RH) and #393/#394 (#6 LH/RH).
