Description
The Atlas #286 is an HO Code 100 #8 Right-Hand Custom-Line Mark IV turnout — the right-hand mirror of #285 and Atlas's modern all-metal-point, all-metal-frog upgrade of the classic Custom-Line family. The #8 frog gives a gentle 7.13° divergence, broad enough for mainline running and full-length 85-foot passenger cars.
Nickel-silver rail on black plastic ties matches the rest of Atlas's HO Code 100 line. Die-cast metal points and a die-cast metal frog with a power-routing tab on the underside provide reliable wheel paths and an option to power the frog with one soldered wire.
How to use
- Drive remote with Atlas's Code 100 switch machine, or under-table with a Tortoise™ via the throwbar slot.
- For DCC-friendly operation, leave the frog isolated; for power-routing operation, solder a feed to the underside tab.
- The #8 frog handles long-wheelbase six-axle diesels and full-length passenger cars without lurching — best for mainline ladders.
- Pair with the left-hand #285 for facing-point ladders and the curved versions #287/#288 for compact throat geometry.
- Compatible with all HO Code 100 track via standard rail joiners.
