Description
The Atlas #2706 is the manually-thrown left-hand version of the #6 frog turnout in N Code 80 — same track geometry as the #2704 (remote) but without the powered switch machine. The points are thrown by a small sliding lever on the housing, ideal for spots where a remote machine isn't justified (staging tracks, hidden yard tracks, layouts where ground-level operation feels prototypical).
Nickel-silver Code 80 rail on moulded black ties with wood-grain detail. The manual throw lever sits on the tie strip and pushes the points back and forth. If you later decide to add remote operation, you can fit the Atlas #2715 (LH) standalone switch machine — it's specifically designed to screw on to these #2700-series manual turnouts.
How to use
- Throw by hand using the small sliding lever on the housing — no power required.
- Connect track rails with Atlas Code 80 rail joiners (#2535).
- To later convert to remote: install Atlas #2715 (LH) standalone switch machine (sold separately).
- Pair with #2707 (RH manual) for double-track crossovers; or use #2704 (LH remote) where remote control is needed from day one.
- Best for: hidden staging tracks, yard ladders where you're working the throat by hand, lower-cost branchline layouts.
