Description
The GMD GP40-2W — the wide-cab “Canadian comfort cab” variant of EMD’s GP40-2 — is one of Canadian National’s signature locomotives. Atlas’s HO scale model captures the unique safety-cab carbody in 1:87 finished in CN’s classic noodle-logo livery as road number #9650, with factory DCC and onboard sound.
Mechanically the model features a five-pole skew-wound motor with dual flywheels, all-wheel pickup, dual-color LED directional headlights and lit number boards, factory wire grab irons and MU hoses, and body-mount magnetic knuckle couplers.
How to use
- Plug-and-play DCC/Sound: assign address and run on any NMRA-compliant DCC system.
- Default address 03 — reprogram to your road number on the programming track.
- Also runs on DC with basic sound at higher voltages.
- HO Code 83/100 track; minimum recommended radius 22″.
