Nothing gives an unfinished layout away faster than an empty platform and a yard with no crew. A dozen well-placed people — a brakeman leaning out at a cut of cars, a couple on a park bench, someone knee-deep in a stream with a fly rod — turn scenery into a scene. It is the last five per cent of the work and the first thing a visitor notices.

Everything in this collection is HO, so figures stand at the right height against your structures, station platforms and open cars. Animals matter as much as people — deer at the treeline and livestock in a fenced field read as motion from normal viewing distance, and they date a scene far less than clothing does, which is worth remembering if you model a specific era.
