Description
The NCE 5240235 6-Pin RJ12 to 8-Pin CAT5 RJ45 Cab Bus Adapter is a small adapter board that converts NCE's standard 6-wire RJ12 cab bus signals to 8-pin CAT5 RJ45 wiring — lets you run long cab bus distances over cheap, easy-to-source CAT5 / CAT5e / CAT6 patch cables.
What it does: One side accepts a standard NCE 6-wire RJ12 cab bus connection (from any UTP, PCP, or throttle); the other side has an 8-pin RJ45 jack for CAT5 patch cabling. Pair two of these adapters at each end of a CAT5 run to interconnect distant cab bus panels — perfect for big basement layouts where pre-made CAT5 cables are much cheaper than long custom RJ12 runs.
- Input: 6-wire RJ12 (standard NCE cab bus)
- Output: 8-pin RJ45 (CAT5 / CAT5e / CAT6 patch cable)
- Use: Long-run cab bus extensions using off-the-shelf network cable
- Pair with: Two adapters needed for a CAT5 interconnect (one at each end)
- NCE part: 5240235 (Walthers 524-235)
Tip: Use straight-through (not crossover) CAT5 patch cables between the two adapters. Avoid running cab bus parallel to mains AC power cables — keep at least 6 inches separation to prevent interference.
