Description
The NCE 5240225 EB1 v1.1 Single District Electronic DCC Track Power Circuit Breaker is the EB1 — an electronic DCC circuit breaker that protects one power district from short circuits, ~30× faster than the built-in overload trip on any NCE system.
What it does: Short-circuit protection for one DCC power district. The default trip time is roughly 30 times faster than the basic overload setting on NCE command stations / boosters — keeps wheels, frogs, and decoders safer when something derails. Trip current is adjustable from 1.5 to 8 A for matching different scales and zones. Easy screw-terminal hookup, no soldering. Status LED goes off when track power is missing. DCC-only; does not work on DC.
- Coverage: One DCC power district
- Trip current: Adjustable 1.5 – 8 A
- Trip speed: ~30× faster than command-station overload
- Hookup: Screw terminals (no soldering)
- Status: LED indicator
- Compatibility: DCC layouts only (not DC)
- NCE part: 5240225 (Walthers 524-225)
Tip: Divide a 5 A booster into 2 or more independent power districts with EB1s — when one district shorts (derailment, dropped tool), the rest of the layout keeps running.
About NCE: NCE Corporation (USA) — a leading manufacturer of NMRA-compliant DCC systems, mobile decoders, accessory decoders, and automation electronics. NCE products are renowned for the Pro Cab and Power Cab throttles, the rugged D-series mobile decoders (D13 / D408 / D16), the Switch-It / Switch8 / Snap-It family of accessory decoders for stationary turnout control, the BD20 block detector, and a full cab bus / booster / circuit-breaker ecosystem. Most NCE products are also fully compatible with other NMRA DCC systems.
