The KATO 23-120 is an N scale Island Flag-Stop Platform — a small island platform sized for a rural or branch-line flag-stop station, where trains stop only on request (signaled by a passenger waving a flag or operating a request lever).
Prototype: Flag-stop platforms are the simplest passenger facility in Japanese and North American rail — a single short island platform between two tracks (or beside one), with a basic shelter and platform-edge tactile strip. Used on rural commuter lines, JR local branches, and Canadian Pacific / VIA whistle-stop routes.
