Description
The KATO 23-059 is an 8-pack of N scale catenary poles for single-track lines — modern lattice-mast overhead-line poles representing the electrified mainline poles seen on Japanese, European, and Northeast Corridor electric railroads.
Prototype: Catenary poles support the overhead contact wire (the "catenary") that electric locomotives draw 25 kV or 1500 V AC current from. The lattice / box-girder mast and curved support arm are common across Japanese JR mainlines, European TGV lines, and Amtrak NEC corridors.
Layout uses: Decorative only on a DC / non-overhead layout — the poles do not carry actual current (KATO's commuter locomotives pick up from rails). Use to add prototype authenticity to a Bullet Train or commuter EMU scene.
