Description
The KATO 20-202 is an N Unitrack #6 left-hand electric turnout — a broad-radius turnout with a built-in solenoid switch machine, suited to mainline operation and full-length passenger / 89' freight equipment.
Geometry: #6 frog number gives a ~9.5° diverging angle — broad enough that all rolling stock passes through smoothly even at high speeds. Tangent rail continues straight; diverging route exits to the left.
About frog numbers: The number after a turnout designation (#4, #6, etc.) is the prototype frog number — the inverse of the diverging angle. Lower numbers are sharper (#4 = ~14° diverge, tight yard ladder); higher numbers are broader (#6 = ~9.5°, mainline). A #2 wye splits one track into two equal-angle diverging routes.
KATO N Unitrack system: Code 80 nickel-silver rail molded into a factory-attached ballasted plastic roadbed, with integrated UniJoiners. Unitrack is KATO's flagship N-scale track system.
