Description
The Caboose Industries 220S is a manual ground throw for hand-operating model-railroad turnouts.
What it is: Caboose Industries' universal HO/N sprung ground throw with SPDT (single-pole double-throw) electrical contact. Same 0.165" travel as the 218S, but adds a switch contact for frog polarity, signal driving, or relay coil. Sprung — connects directly to the turnout.
- Scale fit: HO and N (0.165" travel)
- Travel: 0.165"
- Type: Sprung + SPDT electrical contact
- SPDT contact uses: Frog polarity, signal logic, relay coil
- Caboose Industries part: 220S (Walthers 097-220)
Tip: For DCC layouts with powered frogs, the 220S is the easiest install: one part throws the points, holds them sprung against the rail, AND switches the frog polarity. For rigid version, see 119R.
About Caboose Industries: US manufacturer (Mt. Prospect, Illinois) and the industry-standard maker of model-railroad ground throws — the manual, hand-operated turnout-control accessory used by serious modellers on every scale from N through O. All Caboose Industries ground throws are molded from strong, self-lubricating black Delrin. An external cam provides maximum life and travel; the ingenious internal mechanism gives a positive lock in both straight and curved throws (effective from 10° above horizontal to the full down position). A detent assists in holding the handle horizontal for installation. Both rigid ('R' suffix) and sprung ('S' suffix) versions are produced; sprung models have internal stainless-steel springs to absorb over-travel and let the throw connect directly to the turnout.
