Description
The Atlas 884 is an HO Code 100 deck-truss bridge kit — a Warren-truss span with the track running on top of the truss rather than between its girders. Comes with Code 100 nickel-silver rail bonded to the deck.
Prototype: Deck-truss bridges are used where a deep river canyon or wide ravine allows the truss to hang below the rail elevation — classic uses include the Royal Gorge route, the Wahsatch crossing, and many western mountain spans. From a train's perspective the deck-truss is invisible, but from below it presents a dramatic structural silhouette.
Layout uses: Bridges deep cuts or canyons in mountain scenery. The newer 150-591 deck-truss is the updated catalog version with similar dimensions; #884 and #591 can be intermixed.
