Description
The Atlas 883 is an HO Code 100 Warren-truss bridge kit — the classic alternating-diagonal truss design that distributes mainline loads through alternating tension and compression members. Comes with Code 100 nickel-silver rail bonded to the bridge deck.
Prototype: The Warren truss, patented in 1848, is one of the most efficient truss types for medium spans (100-250 ft / 30-75 m). It appears on countless North American mainlines for river crossings and grade separations — recognizable by its zigzag pattern of equilateral triangles between the top and bottom chords.
Layout uses: Use as a dramatic single-span centerpiece, paired with Atlas 81 piers. The 880 series is the older Atlas catalog — the newer 150-590 Warren truss is a similar kit at a slightly updated tooling.
