Description
The Atlas 880 is an HO Code 100 single-track through-plate-girder bridge kit — a riveted-steel girder bridge with the rails running between two tall side girders. Comes with Code 100 nickel-silver rail bonded to the bridge deck for direct drop-in to a Snap-Track layout.
Prototype: Through-plate-girder bridges are one of the most common North American railroad bridges, used for spans of 30-100 ft / 9-30 m over roads, small rivers, and rail crossings. The deep side girders carry the load above deck level, leaving the track surface clear.
Layout uses: Combine with Atlas 81 piers (150-81) and 82 pier girders (150-82) for a multi-span crossing. The older #880 catalog number predates the newer 150-592 plate-girder bridge; the kits are similar in size and can be mixed-and-matched on a layout.
