Description
The Atlas 81 is a 4-pack of HO scale concrete-finish bridge piers, each 3′′ (7.5 cm) tall — sized to support Atlas plate-girder and truss bridges over rivers, roads, and ravines on Code 100 or Code 83 layouts.
Prototype: Cast-concrete piers replaced timber and stone abutments on most North American mainlines from the 1920s onward. The textured finish on Atlas's piers reproduces poured-concrete formwork lines.
Layout uses: Pair two piers with an Atlas plate-girder bridge (150-880 single-track or 150-881 double-track) to span a river; combine with Atlas 82 pier girders (150-82) for taller spans.
