Description
The Atlas 791 is an HO scale plastic building kit for a small-town lumber mill — a sawmill structure with raised log-loading platform, lean-to office, and clapboard siding. Atlas building kits are easy-assemble injection-molded plastic with crisp wood and stone detail.
Prototype: Small rural lumber mills served local markets across North America from the late 19th century into the mid-20th century, taking in raw logs by rail or truck and shipping rough-cut dimension lumber out. The classic mill silhouette — a long shed with smoke stack, log pond/deck, and trim office — was a fixture of branchline scenes from New England to the Pacific Northwest.
Layout uses: Anchors a forest-products industry on a branch line, pairs with Atlas 750 Lumber Yard (catalog 150-750) for a complete mill-to-yard wood industry, and accepts log-load freight (skeleton log cars, flat cars with log loads).
