Description
The ALCO S-2 was a 1,000-horsepower end-cab switcher built between 1940 and 1950 — a workhorse on yards, industries, and short branch lines across North America. Atlas’s Master Gold Series captures the locomotive in 1:160 N scale wearing Canadian Pacific livery as road number #7020, with a factory-installed DCC decoder.
The Master Gold N-scale ALCO S-2 features a five-pole skew-wound motor with dual flywheels, all-wheel drive and pickup, blackened metal wheels, directional LED headlight, and fine cab and hood details. The dual-mode decoder allows operation on both DC and DCC layouts.
How to use
- Plug-and-play DCC: default address 03, reprogram on the programming track to your road number.
- Compatible with all NMRA-compliant DCC systems (NCE, Digitrax, ESU, MRC, etc.).
- Also runs on standard N-scale DC.
- Operates on any N-scale Code 80 or Code 55 track; minimum recommended radius 9.75″.
- Ideal as a yard or branchline switcher; pair with Atlas CP freight cars.
