The Atlas 22020 is a 12-piece pack of N scale 33′′ blackened metal wheelsets — replacement / upgrade wheels for N scale freight cars, with realistic dark steel sheen and machined treads that run smoother and quieter than plastic wheels.
Why blackened metal: Plastic wheels collect dirt and lint, transfer it to the rails, and cause stuttering and signal loss on DCC. Blackened metal wheels stay clean longer, look prototypical (no shiny plastic edges), add useful weight to the truck for tracking, and are NMRA-gauge to spec.
Use: Standard 33′′ freight-car size — the dominant wheel size for North American boxcars, gondolas, hoppers, tank cars. Compatible with Atlas, Micro-Trains, Bachmann, Fox Valley N trucks.
