Description
The GE Dash 8-40C (C40-8) was a 4,000-horsepower six-axle road locomotive that defined CN’s heavy freight power through the 1990s and into the 2000s. Atlas’s Silver Series captures the locomotive in 1:87 HO scale in Canadian National’s noodle-logo livery as road number #2014.
This is the DC version, built DCC-ready with an NMRA 8-pin (NEM 652) decoder socket. Features include a five-pole can motor with dual flywheels, all-wheel electrical pickup, etched-metal radiator and dynamic-brake grilles, factory-installed wire grab irons, and AccuMate-style magnetic knuckle couplers.
How to use
- Operates on any HO Code 83 or Code 100 track.
- Runs out of the box on a standard 0-12V DC power pack.
- To upgrade to DCC, drop in any 8-pin HO decoder — no soldering needed.
- Minimum recommended radius: 22″. Couplers are body-mounted.
- Pair with companion units #2017 (10004179) and #2028 (10004180) for an authentic CN heavy-freight consist.
