Description
The Atlas 552 is an HO Code 83 insulated rail joiner pack, 24 pieces — the small black plastic-bodied joiners that electrically separate one rail section from the next while keeping the mechanical alignment tight.
Where insulated joiners earn their keep. Block control on a DC layout (every cab-controlled block needs its rails electrically isolated from the next block). Reverse loops on DC or DCC (the loop and the mainline must be insulated so an auto-reverser can flip polarity). DCC layouts that segment power districts for short protection. Frog feeders on powered-frog turnouts where you don't want the frog to feed-through to the next rail. Bridging into a turntable approach where the turntable rail polarity is independent. Whenever you cut a power district, two insulated joiners (one per rail) cleanly mark the boundary.
Drop-in. Same dimensions as Atlas standard metal rail joiners, identical fit to all Atlas Code 83 Snap Track, Custom Line, and Code 83 flex track. 24 per pack covers 12 complete two-rail breaks — enough for a small layout or one DCC reverse loop module.
