Description
The 50-foot flat car with stakes was the workhorse general-service flat used across North America from the 1950s through today — equally at home with lumber, pipe, steel coils, structural shapes, or military loads. Conrail inherited a large fleet of 50-foot stake flats from its constituent roads (PC, EL, RDG, LV, CNJ, PRR) in 1976, and many ran in Conrail blue through the carrier's 1999 split.
This is Atlas's N scale model finished in Conrail blue as road number #715535. Features include accurate prototype paint and lettering, free-rolling 100-ton trucks with body-mount AccuMate® magnetic knuckle couplers, separate brake wheel, and removable stakes.
How to use
- Any N scale Code 55 or Code 80 track.
- Body-mount AccuMate couplers, Micro-Trains compatible.
- Minimum recommended radius: 9.75".
- Load with HO/N-scale lumber, pipe, machinery, or armored vehicles for a typical late-Conrail-era freight consist.
- Pairs well with Atlas / Micro-Trains era-appropriate Conrail boxcars, gondolas, and covered hoppers.
