Description
The Fairbanks-Morse H-24-66 Train Master was a 2,400 hp six-axle road switcher built between 1953 and 1957 — at the time the most powerful single-engine diesel on North American rails. Canadian Pacific bought 21 Train Masters (#8900-#8920) and ran them in fast freight and passenger service through the 1970s before retirement. CP's units were notable for their Phase 2 carbody with large end number boards and a single headlight.
This is Atlas's N scale Phase 2 model finished in CP's Late Scheme block lettering as road number #8911. Features include golden-white directional LED lighting, painted safety rails, etched metal grilles, blackened metal wheels, and factory-installed AccuMate® knuckle couplers. This is the DC (analog) version — DCC-ready via the NMRA 6-pin (NEM 651) decoder socket under the shell.
How to use
- Runs on any N scale Code 55 or Code 80 track.
- DC out of the box; install any 6-pin NEM 651 decoder to convert to DCC.
- Minimum recommended radius: 11". Body-mount AccuMate couplers, Micro-Trains compatible.
- MU with Atlas 40005396 (#8913) and 40005397 (#8917) for a three-unit CP Train Master lash-up — all three road numbers are 1950s/60s CP authentic.
- For DCC/Sound, see Atlas 40005417 (#8913 with LokSound), or step up to the HO version Atlas 10004119.
