Description
The EMD GP40 was a four-axle, 3,000 hp turbocharged road switcher built by EMD from 1965 to 1971. Canadian Pacific operated a sizable GP40 fleet beginning in the late 1960s in time freight, transfer, and helper service. This is Atlas's N scale model in CP's red/white/black livery as road number #4611, the companion to #4600 (Atlas 40005248).
Features include factory ditch lights, directional LED lighting, walkway safety tread, blackened metal wheels, a scale-speed motor with dual flywheels, dynamic brakes, and AccuMate® magnetic knuckle couplers. DCC-ready with an NMRA 6-pin (NEM 651) decoder socket.
How to use
- Runs on any N scale Code 55 or Code 80 track.
- DC out of the box; install any 6-pin NEM 651 decoder for DCC (Digitrax DN136D, ESU LokPilot Micro, TCS).
- Minimum recommended radius: 11". AccuMate couplers Micro-Trains compatible.
- Pair with Atlas 40005248 (CP #4600) for a two-unit consist — both road numbers cover late-1980s through early-1990s CP operations.
