It was built for 125 mph and restricted to 100 mph in service. The LRC hauled the Metropolis between Montreal, Dorval and Toronto through the 1990s; at three hours fifty-nine minutes for 335 miles, that run remains the fastest scheduled passenger service in Canadian railway history.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eBombardier built ten LRC-1 cars for Amtrak in 1980, followed by 50 LRC-2s for VIA in 1981-82 and 50 LRC-3s in 1984-85. The Amtrak cars eventually returned to VIA for use on the International to Chicago. VIA's LRCs were hauled by LRC, F40PH-2D and P42DC locomotives.
