They worked the entire SP system on famous trains like the Lark, Coast Daylight, San Joaquin Daylight, Sunset Limited and Shasta Daylight, as well as the City of San Francisco and Golden State trains — meaning they wandered freely onto the UP, Milwaukee Road, Rock Island and even appeared behind PRR GG1s in the Northeast Corridor.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eAfter Amtrak's formation in 1971, most of the fleet was put into MOW or storage; Amtrak leased some in 1972 and bought a few, painting them in Phase II. Cars 295 and 298 ran on SP's business train starting in 1984, first in silver Sunset and later in Daylight paint, and were eventually sold to the Alaska Railroad in 1997 (where they remain).
