Santa Fe bought the two in 1952, fitted them with Automatic Train Stop for 80 mph running and painted only one end of each, because they always ran as a set: yellow "cat whiskers" with the square ATSF emblem on the front door. They held down trains 80–83 until their accident at Redondo Junction.

Budd's stainless-steel Rail Diesel Car carried passengers on branch lines and commuter runs across North America for more than 60 years. This Rapido run adds the RDC-9 — the cab-less, single-motor "powered trailer" Budd built for the Boston & Maine in 1956, most of which later ran for CN and VIA until 1988 — alongside RDC-1s in a long list of new schemes and VIA Rail's 2010s rebuilds.

Rapido's acclaimed "stainless steel" finish

Separate underframe piping and conduit; loads of road-specific details

Fabricated or cast truck sideframes as appropriate

Separate grab irons and front door chains; etched-metal roof grilles and fan covers

Lit number boards and class lights

Suggested minimum radius 22"

21-pin DCC-ready socket — add your own decoder

https://oakvillemodeltrains.com/products/rapido-16301-ho-scale-budd-rdc-1-2-car-set-santa-fe-dc-191-dc-192-dc-silent
