SoundTraxx has been making DCC sound decoders in Durango, Colorado since the early 1990s — they pioneered onboard sound for HO model trains and have continued to lead with the Tsunami series. Tsunami2 (the current generation) offers prototypical prime-mover sounds, dynamic braking, air compressor, brake squeal and a full library of sound projects for diesel, steam and electric prototypes.
We stock the Tsunami2 line broadly. By amperage: TSU-1100 1-Amp (for HO and large N), TSU-2200 2-Amp (the standard HO decoder), TSU-4400 4-Amp (large scale and O), all configured for EMD Diesel. By form factor: TSU-21PNEM8 (21-pin 8-function for modern HO decoder-ready locomotives, in EMD and EMD-2 variants — 885809 and 885823 respectively), and the drop-in TSU-PNP8 8-pin 8-function for EMD (885813), Alco (885815) and Baldwin & Others (885816). The TSU-2200 886002 is the dedicated Electric Locomotive variant.
A Tsunami2 install in a modern decoder-ready HO locomotive takes about 15 minutes for a 21-pin model. SoundTraxx sells sound projects (the actual recordings) separately, so you can choose between, say, an EMD 16-645E3 prime mover and a 16-645F3 if you're matching a specific GP-something. Pair SoundTraxx with Decoders, Controllers and Locomotives. Ships from Oakville, Ontario. Free shipping on orders over $250.
